At Bassoues, you stay in a small medieval village, an ancient walled town in the heart of Gascony with its tower of 43 meters high, completed in 1371, as well as a covered market place of the sixteenth.
The donjon, with 5 levels, worth the effort to climb its 197 steps to discover a magnificent view of the surrounding hills to the Pyrenees.
A lively village with many shops (grocery, bakery, tobacco, newspapers,...) and two restaurants open all year, the Restaurant du Centre (https://www.bar-du-centre.fr/), under the market place and Chez Malo, in the Main Street (http://www.chezmalo32.com/).
Why come to Bassoues?
Bassoues is ideally located between the different sites of summer festivals of the Gers, the most important being Jazz in Marciac, Tempo Latino at Vic-Fezensac, and the Festival Country in Mirande. Marciac is 14 km away, Vic-Fezensac 18 km and Mirande 19 km.
At Bassoues you can also go hiking on foot or by bike, by the marked trail from the village waypoints or hiking trails, shorter or longer according to your desire.
